Leslie Reis – Mary Pickersgill Award 2013

Leslie Reis was awarded the first annual Mary Pickersgill Award on Flag Day, June 14, 2013. Leslie is a successful Baltimore commercial real estate attorney. She was a partner at two prestigious Maryland law firms for several years and served as an adjunct professor at University of Maryland School of Law. She was active in the Real Estate Section of the State Bar for many years. In 1991, she founded her own firm, certified woman-owned business by the City of Baltimore. She co-founded the Lawyers’ Campaign Against Hunger and Second Helping, an organization that re-distributes surplus food from the hospitality industry to homeless shelters. In 2004, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and learned that she carries the BRCA1 gene for breast and ovarian cancer. As a result, she formed the Fuchsia Foundation and the Fetting Fund for Breast Cancer Prevention, a fund to assist researchers at Johns Hopkins find the cause and eradicate breast cancer.
