1812 Star Spangled Nation: An Art Exhibition By Members of The American Society of Marine Artists

A traveling exhibit of 25 original oil paintings were created to help commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812. This exhibition pictures the conflict through the eyes of members of the American Society of Marine Artists, the nation’s oldest and largest marine art educational organization.

This exhibit will be open to the public with purchase of admission October 18th thru December 29th, 2014.

2015 Flag House Scholar Award & Essay Contest Now Accepting Submissions

The Star-Spangled Banner Flag House announces the opening for submissions to the Flag House Scholar Award and Essay Contest.

History:  The Flag House Essay Scholarship is a yearly scholarship that began in 2013 funded in part by a generous contribution from the national chapters of the United States Daughters of the War of 1812. The scholarship is meant to further the Flag House’s mission to establish personal connections to American history utilizing the multifaceted story of the Star-Spangled Banner among the young people in our community..

This Year: This year on Flag Day, June 14, 2015 the Flag House will award the Flag House Scholar Award and a scholarship in the amount of $1,812 to a high school senior to put toward the college of his/her choice. The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges as a result of an essay submission.

The Flag House will be CLOSED Wednesday, December 24 - Friday, December 26 and will reopen for normal business hours on Saturday, December 27.

The Flag House will close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31 and will be CLOSED New Year’s Day, January 1, 2015. We will reopen for normal business hours on Friday, January 2.
